Dussehra or Vijayadashami is an important Hindu festival which signifies the victory of good over evil. This annual festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervour by Hindus across the world on the tenth day of the Navratras, which falls on the tenth day of Ashwin or Kartik months as per the Hindu calendar. After observing fast for nine days in Navratri, people are now celebrating Dussehra with great enthusiasm across the country. Dussehra is the festival that marks the end of both Durga Puja and the nine-day-long Navratri festival. This auspicious day is associated with Lord Rama and how he killed the evil Ravana and thus this festival is known as the win of good over evil. It is also the day when Goddess Durga killed Mahishasura, the demon king.
